Gamewell-FCI ASD-PTL2F Smoke and Heat Detector

The Gamewell-FCI ASD-PTL2F is an intelligent addressable smoke and heat detector designed to provide dependable fire detection in commercial fire alarm systems. It combines advanced optical smoke sensing with integrated thermal detection, allowing a single detector to monitor both airborne smoke and elevated temperature conditions.

Designed for commercial life safety applications, the ASD-PTL2F combines multi-sensor detection with Velociti intelligent communication, rotary addressing, visible LED indication, and a low-profile plug-in design. The combined sensing approach provides additional fire condition information while maintaining individual point identification at the fire alarm control panel.

Smoke Detection Performance

The ASD-PTL2F uses an advanced optical sensing chamber designed to detect smoke particles produced by a broad range of developing fire conditions.

Smoke information is continuously evaluated and communicated to the compatible Gamewell-FCI fire alarm control panel. This allows the system to identify the specific detector involved and process the condition according to programmed fire alarm functions.

The optical sensing technology provides dependable open-area smoke detection for commercial indoor environments.

Thermal Detection

In addition to smoke sensing, the ASD-PTL2F incorporates an electronic thermal sensor that continuously monitors ambient temperature conditions.

The thermal element provides additional fire detection information when elevated temperatures develop. Combining smoke and thermal sensing in one detector allows the system to monitor two important fire signatures from a single installed device.

This configuration is useful for commercial applications where enhanced detection capability is desired without installing separate smoke and heat detectors at the same location.

Multi-Sensor Operation

The ASD-PTL2F combines information from its optical smoke sensing chamber and thermal sensing element to provide enhanced fire detection performance.

During normal operation, both sensing elements monitor environmental conditions while detector information is communicated to the fire alarm control panel. Velociti Communication

The ASD-PTL2F uses Gamewell-FCI Velociti intelligent communication technology for fast data exchange between the detector and compatible fire alarm control equipment.

Individual point reporting allows the control panel to identify the exact detector reporting an alarm or abnormal condition. This improves alarm location identification and simplifies inspection, system testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance.

Addressing

Built-in rotary decimal switches provide straightforward detector addressing during installation.

Each ASD-PTL2F can be assigned an individual address and associated with a specific programmed location within the fire alarm control panel.

Rotary addressing also simplifies detector replacement because technicians can configure the required address directly on the replacement detector before returning the system to service.

Status Indication

The ASD-PTL2F incorporates dual LED indicators positioned to provide broad visibility around the detector.

The LEDs provide local indication of detector communication and alarm status, assisting technicians during commissioning, testing, routine inspection, troubleshooting, and alarm events.

Compatible remote annunciation may also be supported where the installed detector is not readily visible.

Testing & Maintenance

The ASD-PTL2F supports functional testing as part of routine commercial fire alarm inspection and maintenance.

Its plug-in construction allows the detector head to be removed from the installed base for inspection, cleaning, testing, servicing, or replacement without disturbing permanent field wiring.

Routine maintenance should include inspection of the smoke entry openings and sensing chamber for dust, debris, paint, or contamination, along with checking the detector for physical damage that could affect smoke or thermal detection.

Detector Base Options

The ASD-PTL2F uses a separate plug-in detector base, allowing permanent field wiring to remain connected while the detector head is removed.

Depending on the approved Gamewell-FCI system configuration, compatible bases may provide standard mounting or additional functions such as relay operation, signaling-line isolation, or local audible signaling.

Base compatibility should be verified for the specific fire alarm control system before installation or replacement.
