Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Smoke Detector, Sensor (RJ45)

The Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Sensor is a photoelectric smoke detection sensor designed for use with SuperDuct four-wire duct smoke detector systems. The Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Sensor utilizes an RJ45 modular connection and is engineered to monitor air moving through HVAC ductwork for the presence of smoke. Therefore, it helps provide early fire detection while preventing smoke from circulating throughout a building’s ventilation system.

Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Sensor Function

The Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Sensor continuously samples air flowing through HVAC ducts and detects smoke using photoelectric sensing technology. As a result, the device can initiate an alarm condition before smoke spreads through occupied areas. In addition, early detection supports faster response times and improved building safety.

Photoelectric Smoke Detection Technology

This sensor uses a photoelectric light-scattering detection principle to identify airborne combustion particles. Consequently, it provides dependable smoke detection performance in air handling systems. Moreover, onboard intelligence and environmental compensation help maintain sensitivity and reduce the effects of changing environmental conditions.

RJ45 Modular Connectivity

The Edwards ESD-SJ Duct Sensor is equipped with an RJ45 modular connector for quick and reliable installation with compatible SuperDuct controllers. Therefore, wiring is simplified compared to traditional field termination methods. Furthermore, RJ45 harnesses are available in multiple lengths to support different installation requirements.

Designed for HVAC Duct Applications

This sensor is specifically designed for commercial HVAC systems where smoke detection within air ducts is required. As a result, it helps prevent smoke migration through ventilation systems during fire events. Additionally, sensors can be installed on both supply and return air ducts for comprehensive monitoring.

Durable SuperDuct Design

The ESD-SJ features a rugged housing, a clear inspection cover, and advanced sensing electronics. Consequently, technicians can visually inspect the sensor without disassembly. Moreover, the sealed sensing chamber helps maintain reliable long-term performance in demanding HVAC environments.
