Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3 Addressable Smoke Detector

The Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3 is a commercial smoke detector designed for compatible Gamewell-FCI fire alarm systems. Specifically, its redesigned optical sensing chamber detects smoke produced by a wide range of combustion sources while providing individual point identification within the protected building.

Built for dependable commercial performance, the ASD-PL3 features panel-adjustable sensitivity, rotary address switches, dual LED status indicators, magnetic functional testing, and a modern low-profile housing. In addition, its bright white finish complements contemporary commercial interiors.

This product is intended exclusively for commercial fire alarm installations. It is not surveillance equipment, a recording device, tracking equipment, or a consumer electronic product. Honeywell currently lists the ASD-PL3 as discontinued, so buyers should confirm system compatibility and product condition before purchase.

Product Functions

The Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3 supports commercial fire alarm systems by providing:

• Optical smoke detection
• Individual device identification
• Panel-adjustable sensitivity
• Continuous smoke-density monitoring
• Rotary decimal address configuration
• Dual LED status indication
• Magnetic functional testing
• Optional remote LED support
• Compatibility with approved detector bases
• Support for routine inspection and maintenance

Electrical & System Information

The ASD-PL3 operates from a compatible Gamewell-FCI signaling line circuit within a 15–32 VDC operating range. Furthermore, it transmits smoke-density information to the fire alarm control panel, allowing the system to monitor detector condition and alarm status.

The standard bright white ASD-PL3 operates only with the Velociti protocol. It does not provide CLIP compatibility. For legacy installations requiring both Velociti and CLIP operation, verify whether the ivory ASD-PL3-IV service model is required instead.

Rotary decimal switches support device addresses from 01 through 159. However, the available address range and detector features depend on the connected control panel.

Features

Optical Smoke Detection

The redesigned optical sensing chamber detects smoke from a wide range of combustion sources. As a result, the detector supports dependable early warning in compatible commercial fire alarm systems.

Panel-Adjustable Sensitivity

Compatible fire alarm control panels can adjust detector sensitivity according to the protected environment. Consequently, technicians can configure the detector for standard applications or approved early-warning applications.

Special application mode provides increased sensitivity for selected environments. However, it may be more susceptible to unwanted alarms and should not be used near cooking appliances, airborne dust, aerosols, grinding, drilling, or similar particulate sources.

Rotary Address Switches

Two visible rotary switches allow installers to assign an address from 01 to 159. Therefore, technicians can configure or replace the detector without a separate handheld addressing tool.

Dual LED Indicators

Two panel-controlled LEDs provide 360-degree status visibility. Depending on control-panel programming, the LEDs can display green, red, or amber and may blink, remain steady, or stay off.

Magnetic Functional Test

A built-in test switch allows technicians to perform a functional test with an external magnet. In addition, approved aerosol smoke products may be used to complete smoke-entry testing according to the manufacturer’s instructions.

Optional Remote Indicator

The detector includes an output for an optional RA100Z remote LED annunciator, which can provide status indication in locations where the detector itself is difficult to view.

Mounting & Design

The Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3 features a modern bright white housing designed for indoor commercial environments. Furthermore, its plug-in construction allows straightforward installation, removal, cleaning, and replacement.

The detector supports compatible standard, relay, isolator, and sounder bases. A tamper-resistant base feature can also prevent unauthorized detector removal when installers enable it according to the base instructions.

The detector measures approximately 2 inches high when installed on a B300-6 base. Depending on the selected base, the installed diameter is approximately 4.1 or 6.2 inches.

Protection & Applications

The ASD-PL3 is designed for commercial fire alarm systems that require dependable smoke detection and individual device identification.

Typical protection includes:

• Commercial smoke detection
• Building life-safety systems
• Early fire warning
• Open-area smoke detection
• Approved duct applications
• Property protection
• Occupant protection

The detector carries listings for open-area protection and approved duct applications. Always follow NFPA 72, local codes, the authority having jurisdiction, and the manufacturer’s installation instructions.

Compatibility

The standard Gamewell-FCI ASD-PL3 is designed for compatible Gamewell-FCI control panels operating with the Velociti protocol.

Compatible bases may include:

• B501-WHITE 4-Inch Flangeless Base
• B300-6 6-Inch Flanged Base
• B200SR-WH Sounder Base
• B200S-WH Addressable Sounder Base
• B200SR-LF-WH Low-Frequency Sounder Base
• B200S-LF-WH Addressable Low-Frequency Sounder Base
• B224RB-WH Relay Base
• B224BI-WH Isolator Base

The ASD-PL3 should not be confused with:

• ASD-PL3-IV: Ivory service model supporting Velociti and CLIP
• ASD-PL3R: Remote-test version intended for compatible duct detector housings
• ASD-PTL3: Smoke detector with supplemental thermal sensing

Before purchasing or installing this detector, verify the control-panel protocol, detector base, color, model suffix, and project requirements.
