Edwards ESD-CT Duct Smoke Detector Controller (Terminals)

The Edwards ESD-CT Duct Smoke Detector Controller is an intelligent controller designed for use with Edwards SuperDuct terminal-connected smoke sensors in commercial HVAC smoke detection systems. Unlike the RJ45 version, the ESD-CT utilizes screw terminal connections for detector wiring, providing greater installation flexibility where modular cabling is not preferred. Therefore, it delivers reliable smoke detection control, HVAC shutdown capability, and fire alarm integration while helping prevent smoke from circulating throughout a building’s ventilation system.

Edwards ESD-CT Function

The Edwards ESD-CT continuously monitors a compatible terminal-wired duct smoke sensor installed within the HVAC duct system. As a result, when smoke is detected, the controller activates onboard relay outputs that can initiate fire alarm notification, HVAC fan shutdown, smoke damper operation, or building automation sequences. In addition, the controller supervises detector operation and provides clear visual indication of normal, alarm, and trouble conditions.

Terminal Wiring Configuration

The ESD-CT is designed for applications requiring field-wired terminal connections between the controller and detector. Consequently, installers have additional flexibility when routing wiring through existing conduit systems or custom HVAC installations. Moreover, screw terminal wiring provides secure electrical connections for long-term system reliability.

HVAC Smoke Control

The Edwards ESD-CT helps prevent smoke migration through HVAC systems by activating connected control equipment whenever smoke is detected. Therefore, building ventilation systems can be shut down quickly to limit the spread of smoke throughout occupied spaces. Furthermore, the controller integrates easily with compatible fire alarm control panels and building automation systems.

LED Status Indicators

The controller incorporates highly visible LED indicators that display Power, Alarm, and Trouble status. As a result, maintenance personnel can quickly determine operating conditions during inspections and troubleshooting. Additionally, the clear cover allows visual inspection without opening the enclosure, simplifying routine maintenance.

Easy Installation and Maintenance

The SuperDuct controller features a compact, low-profile housing with a spacious wiring compartment and convenient terminal connections. Consequently, installation and servicing are simplified while allowing easy access to field wiring and detector components. Its modular design supports both new construction and retrofit HVAC smoke detection applications.
