Photoelectric Smoke Detection
The PAD200-PD uses photoelectric sensing technology to detect airborne smoke particles.
Smoke entering the detector’s optical chamber changes the amount of light reaching the sensing element. The detector processes this information and communicates the condition to the compatible Potter fire alarm control panel.
Photoelectric detection is particularly effective for detecting smoke associated with slow, smoldering fires.
Intelligent Addressable Operation
Each PAD200-PD operates as an individually identifiable device on the Potter signaling line circuit.
The fire alarm control panel can identify the exact detector reporting an alarm, trouble, or maintenance condition rather than indicating only a conventional detection zone.
Rotary Addressing
The PAD200-PD uses rotary address switches for device configuration.
The detector supports addresses:
1–127
The address is selected directly at the detector, simplifying commissioning, troubleshooting, and device replacement.
Drift Compensation
The PAD200-PD supports automatic compensation for gradual changes in detector sensitivity caused by environmental conditions and contamination.
This helps maintain stable smoke detection performance while reducing unwanted alarms associated with normal detector aging or dust accumulation.
Status Indication
The detector incorporates LED status indication that provides local confirmation of detector operation.
The LEDs can indicate normal communication, alarm, and other detector conditions according to the connected Potter fire alarm control panel.
Detector Base Compatibility
The PAD200-PD uses compatible Potter PAD Series detector bases, including:
PAD100-4DB — 4-inch Detector Base
PAD100-6DB — 6-inch Detector Base
PAD100-RB — Relay Base
PAD100-IB — Isolator Base
PAD100-SB — Sounder Base
The plug-in design allows the detector head to be removed or replaced without disturbing the field wiring connected to the base.
