The Edwards SIGA-278 Intelligent Dual-Action Pull Station is an addressable fire alarm initiating device designed for Edwards Signature Series systems. It uses a double-action, single-stage mechanism that requires the user to lift the upper cover and then pull the alarm handle to initiate an alarm.
The SIGA-278 features a durable red Lexan housing, integral microprocessor, electronic addressing, automatic device mapping, non-volatile memory, diagnostic LEDs, and a keyed reset mechanism.
Product Functions
- Provides intelligent addressable fire alarm initiation
- Double-action activation
- Single-stage alarm operation

- Designed for Edwards Signature Loop Controllers
- Supports supervised two-wire Signature communication
Dual-Action Operation
The SIGA-278 requires two deliberate actions to initiate an alarm:
1. Lift the upper door
2. Pull the alarm handle
The upper door is clearly marked to direct the user through the activation sequence.
This double-action design helps reduce accidental activation while maintaining straightforward emergency operation.
Intelligent Addressable Operation
The SIGA-278 contains an integral microprocessor that provides intelligent communication with the compatible Edwards fire alarm system.
The station operates as an individually identifiable point, allowing the control panel to determine exactly which pull station has been activated.
The SIGA-278 requires:
One Module Address
Electronic Addressing
The SIGA-278 uses electronic addressing instead of mechanical DIP or rotary address switches.
Each station has a unique serial number stored in onboard memory. The compatible Signature Loop Controller identifies the device and assigns its address electronically.
This simplifies system commissioning and reduces the possibility of mechanical addressing errors.
Automatic Device Mapping
The SIGA-278 supports Edwards Automatic Device Mapping.
This allows compatible Signature systems to identify the station’s location relative to other devices on the signaling circuit, helping technicians with commissioning, troubleshooting, and system servicing.
Non-Volatile Memory
The station incorporates non-volatile memory for storing device information.
Stored information can include:
- Device serial number
- Device address
- Device type
- Personality Code
- Operating history
- Diagnostic information
This information remains available even if system power is interrupted.
Diagnostic LED Indication
The SIGA-278 incorporates onboard diagnostic LEDs.
Green: Flashes during normal polling
Red: Flashes when the station is in an alarm/active condition
These indicators provide local confirmation of communication and alarm status.
Keyed Reset
After activation, the SIGA-278 requires a key to open and reset the station.
The station uses the:
276-K1 Reset Key
The keyed mechanism prevents unauthorized personnel from restoring the pull station after an alarm activation.
