The Edwards FX-NAC Addressable NAC Module provides intelligent control of notification appliance circuits in compatible fire alarm systems. It connects a supervised output circuit to a signal riser and controls polarized audible and visual notification appliances. In addition, the module continuously monitors the output wiring for open and short circuit conditions.
Addressable Notification Appliance Control
The Edwards FX-NAC operates as an analog addressable device on a compatible fire alarm system. When the control panel sends an activation command, the module connects the notification output circuit to the signal riser. Therefore, connected horns, strobes, and other compatible notification appliances can activate according to the programmed system response.
The module requires one device address. Installers can set the address through two rotary switches located on the front of the unit. As a result, addressing and replacement remain straightforward during installation and service.
Supervised NAC Operation
The module supervises its output wiring for both open and short circuit conditions. If the circuit develops a short, the module prevents activation of the audible and visual signal circuit. Therefore, the signal riser remains isolated from the wiring fault.
The device supports both Class A and Class B notification appliance circuit configurations. Class B installations use a 47 kΩ end-of-line resistor.

Genesis Audible and Visual Operation
The Edwards FX-NAC comes configured for Genesis Audible/Visual/Silence operation. This configuration supports compatible Genesis and Enhanced Integrity horns and strobes.
Moreover, the module maintains signal synchronization for compatible notification appliances. With Genesis devices, the system can silence connected horns while allowing strobes on the same two-wire circuit to continue flashing until the panel resets.
Installers can also configure the module for other supported device types. The available options depend on the compatible control panel and its programming capabilities.
Status LED and Electrical Specifications
A built-in bicolor LED provides convenient module status information. A flashing green LED indicates normal operation. Meanwhile, a flashing red LED indicates an active condition.
The communication line supports a maximum voltage of 20 V peak-to-peak. The module draws approximately 350 μA in standby and 200 μA when activated.
The NAC circuit supports 24 VDC at up to 2A. In addition, the module accepts common fire alarm wire sizes from 12 to 18 AWG.
Operating Environment and Installation
The module operates within a temperature range of 32°F to 120°F. It also supports relative humidity from 0% to 93% in non-condensing conditions.
Installers can mount the unit in a compatible North American 4-inch square electrical box. Therefore, the module works well for both new installations and replacement applications in compatible systems.
Fire Alarm Applications
This addressable NAC module can support horns, strobes, and other compatible polarized notification appliances. For example, technicians can use it when a fire alarm system requires addressable control of a remote notification appliance circuit.
Before installation, always verify control panel compatibility, SLC requirements, NAC power, device load, and wiring configuration. In addition, follow the manufacturer’s installation instructions and applicable fire alarm codes.
Overall, this Edwards addressable module provides supervised NAC control, fault monitoring, flexible Class A or Class B wiring, and support for synchronized notification appliances. These features make it a practical component for compatible professional fire alarm systems.
