Edwards SIGA-CT1 Single Input Module

The Edwards SIGA-CT1 is a Signature Series intelligent single input module designed to connect normally open dry-contact initiating devices to compatible Edwards addressable fire alarm systems. It provides one supervised input circuit for monitoring devices such as pull stations, waterflow switches, valve tamper switches, and other contact-type initiating equipment.

The SIGA-CT1 incorporates onboard microprocessor technology, intelligent Signature communication, automatic device mapping, and electronic addressing. Its compact module design allows conventional contact devices to become individually identified points within an intelligent commercial fire alarm system.

Product Functions

• Provides one supervised input circuit
• Monitors normally open dry contacts
• Supports conventional initiating devices
• Provides individual addressable point identification
• Reports alarm conditions to the fire alarm control panel
• Reports supervisory conditions when programmed
• Monitors field wiring integrity
• Supports automatic device mapping
• Supports electronic addressing
• Provides intelligent Signature Series communication
• Supports commercial fire alarm systems

Single Input Monitoring

The SIGA-CT1 provides a single input channel for monitoring compatible normally open contact devices.

When the connected field device changes state, the module recognizes the condition and communicates it to the Edwards fire alarm control panel. The system then processes the event according to the programmed point type, such as alarm, supervisory, or other approved monitoring function.

This allows conventional contact devices to operate as individually identifiable points within an intelligent addressable system.

Device Applications

The SIGA-CT1 can be used to monitor a variety of normally open dry-contact devices.

Typical monitored equipment may include:

• Manual pull stations
• Sprinkler waterflow switches
• Valve tamper switches
• Pressure switches
• Supervisory switches
• Conventional heat detectors
• Door position contacts
• Equipment status contacts
• Other approved dry-contact initiating devices

The programmed function of the module depends on the connected device and fire alarm system configuration.

Intelligent Communication

The SIGA-CT1 communicates with compatible Edwards Signature Series fire alarm equipment using intelligent addressable communication.

The module’s onboard microprocessor processes input information and communicates device status to the loop controller. Individual point identification allows operators and technicians to identify the exact module involved during alarm, supervisory, trouble, testing, or maintenance conditions.

This intelligent architecture provides more precise event reporting than conventional zone-based monitoring.

Automatic Device Mapping

The SIGA-CT1 supports Edwards Automatic Device Mapping technology.

Device mapping helps the fire alarm system identify the physical sequence of Signature devices connected to the signaling line circuit. This can simplify commissioning, troubleshooting, system modifications, and identification of wiring changes.

The mapping capability also assists service technicians when locating devices or diagnosing signaling line circuit problems.

Electronic Addressing

The SIGA-CT1 uses electronic addressing rather than mechanical DIP switches or rotary address switches.

The device address is assigned through compatible Edwards system programming and stored within the module. This helps reduce manual addressing errors and supports efficient system commissioning.

Electronic addressing also works with Signature Series mapping and diagnostic functions to provide detailed device identification.

Input Circuit Supervision

The module supervises the connected field wiring so open-circuit conditions can be identified by the fire alarm system.

An end-of-line resistor is used with the monitored circuit according to the approved wiring configuration. This allows the module to distinguish between normal, active, and wiring trouble conditions.

Proper end-of-line resistor placement is important because the resistor must supervise the complete field circuit rather than only the module terminals.

Status Indication

The SIGA-CT1 incorporates LED indication for local module status.

The indicator assists technicians during system commissioning, inspection, testing, and troubleshooting by providing visual confirmation of module communication and activation conditions.

System status and the programmed location of the module are also displayed through the compatible Edwards fire alarm control panel.

Installation Information

The SIGA-CT1 is designed for installation in an appropriate electrical box or approved enclosure.

Field wiring connects the module to the Signature signaling line circuit and to the monitored initiating device. Its compact design allows installation near the device being monitored, helping reduce conventional initiating circuit wiring.

Installation should follow Edwards requirements for conductor size, circuit length, end-of-line supervision, electrical box configuration, and separation of power-limited wiring.

Testing & Maintenance

Routine testing should verify proper operation of both the SIGA-CT1 and the connected field device.

Testing should confirm input activation, addressable reporting, correct programmed location, alarm or supervisory response, wiring supervision, LED indication, and system restoration.

Inspection should also verify secure field connections, proper end-of-line resistor placement, module mounting, and freedom from physical damage or contamination.
