Simplex 49AV-WWF TrueAlert ES Addressable Horn/Strobe

The Simplex 49AV-WWF TrueAlert ES Addressable Horn/Strobe is an intelligent audible/visible fire alarm notification appliance designed for compatible Simplex addressable notification systems. It combines an electronic horn with a synchronized multi-candela strobe in a white wall-mount housing marked FIRE.

The 49AV-WWF is individually addressable, allowing compatible Simplex equipment to supervise and control the appliance over an addressable notification circuit. Current Simplex IDNAC compatibility documentation continues to list the 49AV-WWF as a compatible TrueAlert ES audible/visible appliance.

Audible/Visible Notification

The 49AV-WWF combines two fire alarm notification functions in one appliance:

Electronic Horn: Provides audible emergency signaling.

Strobe: Provides high-intensity visual notification.

Combining both functions allows a single wall-mounted device to provide audible and visible warning to building occupants.

---

Multi-Candela Strobe

The 49AV-WWF provides selectable strobe intensity settings of:

15 cd

30 cd

75 cd

110 cd

135 cd

185 cd.

This broad candela range allows the same appliance to be used in areas with different visible-notification coverage requirements.

---

Electronic Horn

The audible portion uses an electronic horn.

TrueAlert ES 49AV appliances support programmable audible operation, including commonly used fire alarm patterns such as:

• Continuous
• Temporal Code 3
• March Time

Compatible control equipment determines the actual audible signaling pattern used by the appliance.

---

TrueAlert ES Addressable Operation

The 49AV-WWF belongs to the Simplex TrueAlert ES addressable notification family.

Unlike conventional horn/strobes that are primarily supervised at the circuit level, TrueAlert ES technology allows compatible Simplex equipment to identify and supervise individual appliances.

The system can therefore associate the appliance with a specific address and programmed location.

---

IDNAC Compatibility

Current Simplex documentation specifically lists:

49AV-WWF

among compatible TrueAlert ES Audible/Visible notification appliances for IDNAC equipment.

IDNAC technology provides power, communication, supervision, and control over the notification circuit, allowing sophisticated control of individual appliances.

---

Individual Appliance Supervision

Because the 49AV-WWF is addressable, compatible Simplex control equipment can monitor the individual appliance rather than only monitoring overall notification circuit continuity.

TrueAlert device reports can provide information associated with connected appliances, assisting with:

• Installation
• Commissioning
• Troubleshooting
• Device identification
• Notification system maintenance

---

Strobe Synchronization

The 49AV-WWF supports synchronized visible notification.

Synchronization coordinates the flashing of multiple strobes so appliances within the same field of view flash together rather than at unrelated intervals.

This synchronization is controlled through the compatible Simplex notification system.

---

Diagnostic LED

TrueAlert ES appliances incorporate an LED used for device-status and diagnostic functions.

The LED can assist with:

• Device identification
• Address verification
• Polling indication
• Installation diagnostics
• Magnet testing

This provides technicians with local information when commissioning or troubleshooting the notification system.

---

Magnet Test

The 49AV Series supports operational appliance magnet testing.

In the appropriate test mode, the appliance can first indicate its address using the diagnostic LED. The strobe then briefly flashes and the horn briefly sounds to verify operation.

This provides a convenient method of checking individual notification appliances during installation and service.

---

White FIRE Configuration

The specific 49AV-WWF configuration is:

Housing/Cover Color: White

Wording: FIRE

Lens: Clear

Orientation: Wall mount.

Simplex also manufactures related 49AV configurations with red housings, alternative wording, and blank/logo-only covers.

---

Replacement for 4906-9229

Simplex documentation identifies the:

49AV-WWF

as the TrueAlert ES replacement for:

4906-9229.

Both are white wall-mounted audible/visible notification appliances, but the 49AV-WWF belongs to the newer TrueAlert ES product family.

Installation Information

The 49AV-WWF is supplied as a complete wall-mount appliance configuration with the appropriate white FIRE cover and matching mounting arrangement. Simplex also offers the 49AV-APPLW version when the cover and mounting plate need to be selected separately.

Typical installation includes connecting the compatible addressable notification circuit, securing the appliance, configuring the required candela and audible operation, programming/verifying its address, and performing a functional horn/strobe test.

Class B TrueAlert ES wiring can support T-tapped arrangements, providing additional installation flexibility where permitted by the applicable Simplex system design.
