Silent Knight SK-FIRE-CO Smoke/CO Detector

The Silent Knight SK-FIRE-CO Smoke/CO Detector combines advanced fire detection and carbon monoxide detection in one addressable device. It monitors multiple fire signatures while also providing a separate CO detection signal. Therefore, it offers a practical solution for compatible Silent Knight addressable fire alarm systems.

Advanced Multi-Criteria Fire Detection

The Silent Knight SK-FIRE-CO uses four sensing elements to identify the major components of a fire. These elements monitor smoke, carbon monoxide, light or flame, and heat. As a result, the detector can evaluate multiple conditions instead of relying on a single sensing method.

This multi-criteria approach improves sensitivity to real fire conditions. In addition, it helps provide greater immunity to nuisance particles that could cause unwanted alarms.

Separate Carbon Monoxide Detection

The detector uses an electrochemical sensing cell for life-safety CO monitoring. Moreover, it sends a separate CO signal to the compatible fire alarm control panel. This allows the system to distinguish between a fire event and a carbon monoxide event.

The CO sensor also features automatic drift compensation. Furthermore, the detector provides an end-of-life warning and fault indication for the CO cell.

SLC and Sounder Base Operation

The Silent Knight SK-FIRE-CO uses only one address on the SLC loop. Therefore, installers can obtain multiple sensing capabilities without assigning separate addresses to each detection function.

The detector can also work with compatible B200S and B200S-LF intelligent sounder bases. When used with these bases, the system can provide different audible patterns for fire and CO events. For example, the sounder can generate a Temporal 3 pattern for fire or a Temporal 4 pattern for a CO alarm.

Fire Alarm Applications

This combination detector provides an effective solution for buildings that require both fire and carbon monoxide monitoring. For instance, compatible applications may include hotels, residential occupancies, commercial buildings, institutional facilities, and other properties with compatible Silent Knight systems.

Combining multiple sensing technologies in one device can also simplify system design. In addition, the separate fire and CO signals allow the control panel to respond appropriately to each type of event.

Installation and Compatibility

Always verify fire alarm control panel, SLC protocol, and detector base compatibility before installation. Also, confirm the system programming requirements for separate fire and CO notification.

Qualified fire alarm professionals should install, program, and test the detector. Furthermore, installers should follow manufacturer instructions, applicable NFPA requirements, and local fire alarm and carbon monoxide codes.

Overall, this Silent Knight combination detector provides advanced multi-criteria fire detection and dedicated CO monitoring in one addressable device. Its four fire-sensing elements, separate CO signal, automatic drift compensation, and single-address operation make it a practical option for compatible legacy Silent Knight fire alarm systems.
