The Siemens ─ Fire Safety Division Intelligent Remote Lamps (Siemens RLI-1 for ceiling-mount; Siemens RLI-2 for wall-mount) are design for use with initiating devices that are conceal or otherwise not easily within view (e.g. ─ above suspended ceilings, under sub-floors, in unexposed ventilating ducts, normally locked vaults or closed rooms, etc.) Also, both of these intelligent lamps operate with the Siemens MXL family of fire alarm control panels.
Siemens RLI-1 comes mounted on a 4” (10.2 cm.) octagon outlet box; and Siemens RLI-2 comes mounted on a single gang electrical box. Although there is no mounting limitation, Model RLI-1 is often ceiling mount, and Model RLI-2 is wall mount.
In general, Siemens RLI-1 shall mount on a standard 4-inch, (10.2 cm.) octagon conduit box, and Model RLI-2 on a standard, single-gang switch box. Besides, he wiring between the remote alarm lamp and the initiating device shall be #18 American Wire Gauge (AWG) thermoplastic-fixture wire enclosed in conduit, or #18 AWG limited-energy, shielded cable without conduit (if permitted by local building codes). Installation wiring shall be as indicated in system drawings.
Both Intelligent Remote Lamps are UL 864 9th Edition List for indoor dry locations within a temperature range of 120+/-3°F (49+/-2°C) to 32+/-3°F (0+/-2°C) and a relative humidity of 93+/-2% at a temperature of 90+/-3°F (32+/-2°C).
