Edwards SD-T78. 78-inch Sampling Tube.

Edwards SD-T78 78-inch Sampling Tube

The Edwards SD-T78 78-inch Sampling Tube provides effective airflow sampling for duct smoke detection in HVAC systems with ducts up to 78 inches wide. Designed to work with Edwards duct smoke detectors, this tube draws air evenly across the duct’s entire width and directs it into the detector’s sensing chamber. This consistent sampling process enables earlier smoke detection and supports NFPA code compliance in larger duct systems.

Because wider ducts present unique detection challenges, the SD-T78 offers a practical solution without requiring additional detectors.

Even Air Sampling Across the Full Span

With its extended reach, the SD-T78 collects air through a series of evenly spaced perforations. These intake points help pull in a representative sample of the air passing through the duct. That sample then travels directly to the sensing chamber, where the detector evaluates it for smoke or combustion particles.

In systems with fluctuating airflow or high velocity, uniform sampling becomes especially important. This tube ensures that no section of the duct remains unmonitored, which helps reduce false alarms and improve detection accuracy.

Built to Withstand Real-World Conditions

Edwards constructs the SD-T78 from rigid, corrosion-resistant materials. This durability allows the tube to perform consistently even in demanding HVAC environments where vibration, temperature shifts, and air pressure changes are common. The sturdy build prevents bending or deformation over time, which contributes to long-term reliability.

Installers can quickly secure the SD-T78 into compatible Edwards duct detectors. The included end cap seals the opposite end of the tube to ensure all air flows through the detector as intended. This streamlined setup saves time while maintaining system integrity.

Ideal for High-Capacity Commercial Systems

This 78-inch sampling tube works well in facilities such as large hospitals, convention centers, data centers, and transportation hubs. It provides full duct coverage in a single, manageable component. As a result, it helps minimize installation complexity while maintaining comprehensive smoke detection.

The Edwards SD-T78 78-inch Sampling Tube delivers dependable, wide-range airflow sampling for duct smoke detection systems in larger HVAC applications. Its strong construction, efficient performance, and ease of installation make it an ideal choice for professionals seeking reliable fire protection across broad duct spans. For projects where coverage and accuracy are non-negotiable, the SD-T78 provides an effective and compliant solution.
