The Apollo 55000-500APO XP95 Ionisation Smoke Detector is an analogue addressable smoke detector designed for Apollo XP95-compatible fire alarm systems. It uses an ionisation sensing chamber to provide rapid response to fast-burning, flaming fires.
The detector operates on a two-wire, polarity-insensitive addressable circuit and uses Apollo’s XPERT card addressing system. A red integral LED provides local alarm indication.

Ionisation Smoke Detection
The 55000-500APO uses a low-activity radioactive foil within its sensing chambers.
The foil ionizes the air inside the detector, creating a small electrical current. When smoke enters the chamber, this current decreases. The detector measures the change and communicates the resulting analogue value to the compatible fire alarm control panel.
Fast-Flaming Fire Detection
Ionisation technology is particularly responsive to the small combustion particles produced by fast-burning and flaming fires.
This makes the 55000-500APO suitable for applications where rapid detection of this type of fire signature is important.
XP95 Addressable Operation
The detector belongs to Apollo’s XP95 analogue addressable family.
Each detector communicates with the compatible fire alarm control panel over the addressable loop, allowing the system to identify the specific detector reporting an alarm.
The XP95 platform provides both alarm information and individual detector location identification.
XPERT Card Addressing
The 55000-500APO uses Apollo’s XPERT card addressing system.
The coded address card is installed in the detector base. When the detector is inserted, it reads the address from the base.
This allows replacement detector heads to retain the existing location address without manually reprogramming the replacement detector.
Alarm LED
The detector incorporates an integral:
Red Alarm LED
The LED illuminates when the detector enters an alarm condition, providing local visual confirmation of detector activation.
Compatible Detector Bases
Compatible bases include:
45681-210APO — XP95 Standard Mounting Base
45681-242APO — XP95 Low-Power Relay Base
The plug-in base architecture allows the detector head to be removed or replaced without disturbing the installed field wiring.
