Emergency Voice Speaker

The 4906-9153 incorporates a multi-tapped speaker designed for emergency voice/alarm communication systems.

The speaker supports:

25 VRMS

or

70.7 VRMS

audio distribution systems.

This allows the appliance to reproduce emergency evacuation messages, alert tones, and other audio generated by compatible Simplex voice evacuation equipment.

---

Selectable Speaker Wattage

The speaker transformer provides multiple selectable power taps:

1/4 W

1/2 W

1 W

2 W.

The appropriate wattage is selected according to the required sound-pressure level and system design.

---

Multi-Candela Strobe

The 4906-9153 provides four selectable visible notification settings:

15 cd

30 cd

75 cd

110 cd.

This multi-candela design allows the required visible output to be selected during installation instead of requiring a different appliance for each candela rating.

---

Synchronized Strobe Operation

The strobe supports synchronized 1 Hz flashing.

Simplex notes that synchronized strobes reduce the distraction and potential photosensitive response associated with multiple randomly flashing strobes visible from the same location.

Synchronization can be provided by:

• Compatible Simplex synchronized NACs
• Simplex synchronization modules

The strobe requires a synchronized source or appropriate synchronization module for synchronized operation.

---

Separate Speaker & Strobe Circuits

The speaker and strobe are wired separately.

This allows the emergency audio circuit and visible notification circuit to be controlled according to the requirements of the fire alarm/voice evacuation system.

The speaker receives audio from the compatible voice evacuation audio circuit, while the strobe receives power and synchronization from the applicable notification appliance circuit.

---

Non-Addressable Operation

The 4906-9153 is a non-addressable speaker/strobe.

Unlike Simplex TrueAlert ES addressable appliances, it does not have an individual IDNAC address. Instead, its speaker and strobe operate from conventional compatible audio and notification circuits. Simplex’s official documentation specifically categorizes the product family as non-addressable.

White FIRE Configuration

The specific 4906-9153 configuration is:

Housing: White

FIRE Lettering: Red

Orientation: Wall mount

Notification: Speaker/Strobe.

The closely related 4906-9151 provides essentially the same functionality with a red housing and white FIRE lettering.

Replacement Information

Simplex documentation identifies the 4906-9153 as a replacement for several earlier white wall-mounted speaker/strobes:

4903-9359

4903-9360

4903-9361.

Simplex notes that these are direct replacements specifically for synchronized-mode operation, not free-run mode.
