Siemens TRI-R Intel Interface W/Relay 500-896224

Siemens TRI-R Intelligent Interface Module with Relay (500-896224): Reliable Switching and Monitoring in One Unit

The Siemens TRI-R (model 500-896224) is an intelligent interface module with a built-in Form-C relay designed for seamless integration with Siemens fire alarm systems. It provides supervised monitoring of dry-contact devices while offering reliable switching capability, making it an essential component in complex fire protection infrastructures.

Key Features

Integrated Relay Output
The TRI-R includes a programmable, addressable Form-C relay. This relay allows you to activate external equipment such as fans, dampers, or doors based on specific conditions triggered by the fire alarm system.

Supervised the input circuit
In addition to output control, the module features a supervised input circuit. This input can monitor dry-contact devices like tamper switches or manual pull stations, offering dual functionality from one device.

Intelligent Communication
Through the Signaling Line Circuit (SLC), the TRI-R transmits real-time data to the Siemens fire alarm control panel. Consequently, it ensures prompt system responses and accurate event reporting.

LED Status Indicators
The module includes an onboard LED that signals device status for both input and relay output. This visual aid simplifies on-site troubleshooting and system checks.

Compact and Flexible Design
It fits into a standard single-gang electrical box and offers easy wiring and installation. Because of its compact form, it’s ideal for retrofit projects or tight spaces.

Application and Usage

The Siemens TRI-R is suitable for a wide range of applications, especially when both monitoring and control are required from a single module. Typical uses include:

• Controlling HVAC equipment shutdowns

• Activating elevator recall systems

• Supervising security or sprinkler tamper switches

• Interfacing with magnetic door holders

By combining input monitoring and output control, this module reduces equipment needs and installation time.

Installation Tips

To ensure optimal performance:

• Install the module close to the devices it controls or monitors.

• Use Siemens-approved resistors for the supervised input.

• Program the module using Siemens configuration tools for custom relay logic.

• Always test both the input and relay functions after installation.

Additionally, ensure compliance with UL standards and local fire codes.

Advantages

• Dual Functionality: Monitors an input and controls an output in one device.

• Efficient Wiring: Reduces the need for separate input and relay modules.

• Fast Response: Real-time communication with the control panel for rapid activation.

• Space-Saving: Compact design suitable for retrofit and new installations alike.

• Visual Feedback: LED indicators provide immediate operational status.
