Edwards SD-T42. 42-inch Sampling Tube.

Edwards SD-T42 42-inch Sampling Tube

The Edwards SD-T42 42-inch Sampling Tube supports accurate smoke detection in HVAC ducts measuring up to 42 inches wide. It works with Edwards duct smoke detectors to provide consistent air sampling across a larger duct span. By delivering uniform airflow to the sensing chamber, this tube enhances early detection and strengthens compliance with fire safety standards.

Because of its mid-range length, the SD-T42 fits perfectly into commercial systems that require more reach than compact tubes can offer.

Ensures Balanced Sampling Across the Duct

This tube includes multiple perforations designed to draw air from different points along the duct. It channels this airflow directly into the smoke detector’s chamber. As a result, the detector receives a representative air sample, which improves the chances of catching smoke particles early—even before visible smoke reaches other areas.

In systems with inconsistent or fluctuating airflow, this consistent sampling design helps maintain performance. It also reduces the chances of detection delays, which are critical in high-occupancy facilities.

Built to Withstand Demanding Conditions

Edwards manufactures the SD-T42 using corrosion-resistant and impact-resistant materials. The rigid structure resists vibration, thermal expansion, and long-term wear. Therefore, it performs reliably over time in HVAC environments where airflow pressure and temperature vary frequently.

Technicians can install the SD-T42 quickly using standard Edwards duct detector housings. The included end cap seals off the far end of the tube, ensuring that airflow is directed through the sensing chamber. Because of the straightforward setup, installers save time without sacrificing performance.

Suitable for a Range of Medium to Large Installations

The SD-T42 fits well in schools, healthcare facilities, warehouses, and office buildings where ductwork falls into the mid-to-large range. It offers enough length to provide broad coverage without introducing unnecessary complexity to the system. Moreover, it allows for code compliance using a single detector and tube in many applications, which improves efficiency.

The Edwards SD-T42 42-inch Sampling Tube offers dependable performance for smoke detection across medium-to-wide HVAC ducts. Its rugged design, consistent airflow sampling, and easy installation make it a valuable component in any duct detection system. For fire protection professionals who need a balanced solution between coverage and simplicity, the SD-T42 meets both technical and safety demands.
