Fike 55-055. Zone Interface Module.

Product Overview

The Fike 55-055 Zone Interface Module is designed to serve as a bridge between conventional two-wire smoke detectors and Fike intelligent fire alarm control panels. This module enables a complete zone of conventional detectors to report status — normal, open, or alarm — directly to the control panel. By using the 55-055 system, designers can incorporate legacy or conventional detector zones into intelligent fire-alarm loops without sacrificing supervision or reliability.

Furthermore, the module supports Class A or Class B wiring configurations on the initiating devices circuit. With built-in supervision of the detector zone and the interface connection, the 55-055 helps maintain system integrity and compliance.

Key Features of the Fike 55-055 Zone Interface Module

The Fike 55-055 offers several benefits that enhance both flexibility and safety in fire-alarm system designs:

• Interfaces one full zone of two-wire conventional detectors to the intelligent loop.

• Supports both Class A (looped) and Class B (end-of-line) wiring styles for the initiating device circuit (IDC).

• LED status indicator provides visual confirmation of the module’s condition.

• Operates within 15–30 VDC and uses minimal standby current.

• Easily mounts to a standard 4-inch electrical box or suitable surface-mount housing.

These features help integrate older conventional detector zones into new intelligent systems, reducing retrofit costs and preserving notification coverage.

Applications

The Fike 55-055 Zone Interface Module is ideal for environments where both conventional and addressable detection devices are present, such as:

• Commercial office buildings

• Educational campuses

• Healthcare facilities and nursing homes

• Retail complexes and shopping centers

• Industrial plants and manufacturing sites

In all of these locations, the 55-055 ensures that conventional detector circuits continue to provide fully supervised input to the intelligent control panel, supporting occupant safety and compliance with fire-alarm codes.

Installation Benefits

Because the Fike 55-055 was engineered for straightforward integration, it offers several installation advantages. The clearly labeled terminals and standard mounting requirements reduce wiring confusion and speed up deployment. Moreover, the LED status indicator assists in commissioning and troubleshooting, helping ensure proper setup.

Additionally, by enabling intelligent panel supervision of conventional zones, the 55-055 reduces the need for completely rewiring those zones or installing expensive conversion kits.

Reliable System Integration

When the Fike 55-055 is connected to a compatible Fike intelligent fire alarm control panel, it communicates detector zone status in real time. This ensures that any condition — normal, alarm, open circuit, or short — is accurately reported. By doing so, the module maintains system reliability and helps uphold compliance with life-safety standards.
