The Bosch D7050 Addressable Photoelectric Smoke Detector provides open-area smoke detection for compatible Bosch addressable fire alarm systems. It uses photoelectric sensing technology to detect larger smoke particles by measuring infrared light scattered within its optical sensing chamber.
Designed for commercial fire protective signaling and household fire warning applications, the D7050 combines multiplex communication, automatic sensitivity testing, self-diagnostics, and a removable detector-head design. Its addressable operation allows compatible control equipment to identify the detector and monitor its condition through the system.
Photoelectric Smoke Detection
The Bosch D7050 uses a pulsed infrared source and a high-speed photodiode sensor to detect smoke particles entering the optical chamber. The symmetrical chamber design provides 360-degree smoke entry while helping minimize interference from external light.
This photoelectric detection method makes the D7050 suitable for open-area applications where reliable smoke detection and individual device identification are required.
Multiplex Addressable Operation
The D7050 connects to the multiplex bus of compatible Bosch fire alarm equipment. Bosch documentation identifies the detector for use with systems including the FPD-7024 and D7024 Addressable Fire Alarm Control Panels. Compatibility documentation also identifies applications with the DS7400Xi and applicable Bosch G Series control panels.
Addressable multiplex communication allows the control system to identify individual detectors rather than monitoring several devices as a single conventional detection zone.
Key Features
- Addressable photoelectric smoke detection
- 360-degree optical smoke-entry chamber
- Chamber Check self-diagnostics
- Automatic sensitivity testing
- Superior dust immunity
- Removable detector head for easier cleaning
Chamber Check Self-Diagnostics
The Bosch D7050 incorporates Bosch’s Chamber Check self-diagnostic technology. This feature monitors detector calibration and provides visual indication when the sensing chamber moves outside its factory-listed sensitivity range.
Automatic sensitivity testing helps technicians identify detectors that may require cleaning or service, improving maintainability during routine fire alarm inspection.
LED Status Indication
The D7050 incorporates an LED for visual operating status. During normal operation, the LED flashes periodically to indicate detector activity. Changes in the LED flash pattern can indicate calibration or sensitivity conditions, helping technicians evaluate detector status during inspection and maintenance.
The detector also supports testing using a compatible magnetic test tool, allowing its alarm operation to be checked during system service.
Two-Piece Detector and Base Design
The Bosch D7050 uses a separate detector head and mounting base. The required D7050-B6 two-wire detector base allows field wiring to remain connected when the detector head is removed for cleaning, testing, or replacement.
The D7050-B6 can be mounted on a four-inch square box, four-inch octagonal box, or single-gang box. This two-piece construction can simplify initial wiring and future detector maintenance.
System Compatibility
The Bosch D7050 requires the compatible D7050-B6 detector base. For the FPD-7024 and D7024 platforms, multiplex operation requires the appropriate D7039 MUX Expansion Module. Technicians should verify panel revision, expansion hardware, detector base, and system compatibility when sourcing the D7050 for an existing installation.
