Simplex RMS-1T-LP Dual-Action Pull Station

The Simplex RMS-1T-LP Dual-Action Pull Station is a conventional fire alarm initiating device supplied in the Simplex product line. It uses a rugged low-profile pull-station design with a lift-and-pull dual-action mechanism, requiring the protective flap to be lifted before the alarm handle can be pulled.

The RMS-1T-LP uses an SPST snap-action switch with terminal-block connections. The RMS platform is manufactured by RSG/Aames Security and is included in Simplex/Johnson Controls product catalogs for conventional manual fire alarm applications.

Dual-Action Operation

The -LP suffix identifies the dual-action Lift-and-Pull configuration.

Operation requires two actions:

1. Lift the protective flap.
2. Pull the alarm handle downward.

The underlying RMS-1T station uses a single SPST contact, while the LP assembly adds the second physical action required before the pull handle can be operated.

This configuration helps reduce accidental activation compared with a basic single-action pull station.

Lift-and-Pull Mechanism

The Lift-and-Pull assembly distinguishes the RMS-1T-LP from the standard RMS-1T.

RMS-1T: Single-action configuration

RMS-1T-LP: Dual-action Lift-and-Pull configuration.

Simplex’s product catalog specifically describes RMS-1T-LP as “Manual Station, Dual Action.”

Related RMS Models

The RMS family includes several related configurations:

RMS-1T: Single-contact standard station

RMS-1T-LP: Dual-action Lift-and-Pull station

RMS-1T-WP: Weatherproof SPST station

RMS-1T-WP-LP: Weatherproof dual-action station

RMS-2T: DPST station.

This makes the RMS-1T-LP the standard dual-action SPST configuration within the family.

Product Documentation

The Simplex 2023 Product Catalog specifically lists:

RMS-1T-LP — Manual Station, Dual Action.

The 2024 Autocall/Johnson Controls product catalog similarly lists RMS-1T-LP as a dual-action manual station within the RSG/Aames Security manual-station family.

The underlying RMS-series documentation further identifies RMS-1T as the single-contact model and -LP as the Dual Action option, confirming the configuration represented by RMS-1T-LP.
