Simplex 59AV-WRFH TrueAlert ES LED Addressable Horn/Strobe – High Candela

The Simplex 59AV-WRFH is a TrueAlert ES LED addressable audible/visible notification appliance designed for wall-mounted fire alarm applications. Simplex identifies this specific model as a high-candela, red, wall-mount horn/LED strobe with “FIRE” lettering. It combines an audible horn and high-output LED visual notification in one individually addressable appliance.

The 59AV-WRFH operates on compatible Simplex IDNAC signaling line circuits, which provide power, control, individual addressing, and supervision. Simplex’s current IDNAC compatibility documentation specifically lists the 59AV-WRFH as a compatible LED audible/visible high-candela wall-mount appliance.

LED High-Candela Strobe

The 59AV-WRFH is specifically the high-candela version of the wall-mounted 59AV horn/strobe.

Published Simplex 59AV specifications divide the appliances into:

Standard Candela: 15 / 30 / 75 cd

High Candela: 110 / 135 / 185 cd

Therefore, the 59AV-WRFH supports 110, 135, and 185 candela settings.

The desired intensity can be programmed from compatible Simplex control equipment or configured at the appliance as permitted by the system design.

---

Audible Horn

The 59AV-WRFH incorporates an electronic horn for audible fire alarm notification.

Simplex 59AV appliances provide programmable audible operation, allowing the system to control the horn according to the required emergency notification pattern.

The horn and LED strobe are integrated into a single addressable appliance rather than requiring separate audible and visual devices.

---

TrueAlert ES LED Technology

The 59AV Series uses LED-based strobe technology rather than the xenon flash-tube technology commonly found in older notification appliances.

Simplex identifies two primary advantages:

• Reduced current consumption
• Compact appliance construction

Lower current requirements can increase the number of notification appliances supported by an IDNAC circuit and reduce voltage-drop concerns compared with older notification technologies.

---

IDNAC Addressable Operation

The 59AV-WRFH is individually addressable on a compatible Simplex IDNAC SLC.

IDNAC provides a regulated:

Nominal Voltage: 29 VDC.

The circuit supplies operating power while also providing communications and individual appliance supervision.

Compatible Simplex IDNAC documentation specifically lists the 59AV-WRFH among supported appliances.

---

Individual Appliance Supervision

Unlike conventional NAC appliances where supervision generally occurs at the circuit level, TrueAlert ES appliances provide individual addressable supervision.

This allows compatible Simplex equipment to identify problems associated with a specific notification appliance.

The feature can simplify:

• Installation
• Commissioning
• Troubleshooting
• Maintenance
• Device identification

---

Class A & Class B Wiring

The 59AV-WRFH supports compatible IDNAC circuits configured for:

Class A

or

Class B

Simplex specifically permits T-tapped connections on Class B IDNAC circuits, while Class A operation requires in/out wiring through the appliance.

This provides considerably more wiring flexibility than traditional conventional notification appliance circuits.

---

Synchronized Notification

TrueAlert ES appliances provide synchronized notification under control of the compatible IDNAC system.

Synchronization allows multiple strobes within the same viewing area to flash together rather than operating at unrelated intervals.

This function is controlled by the Simplex system rather than requiring a separate external synchronization module.

---

Self-Test Capability

The 59AV Series supports TrueAlert ES Self-Test Mode.

Simplex states that onboard sensors can detect operation of both the:

• Strobe
• Horn

during testing.

This allows compatible Simplex systems to verify appliance operation more efficiently during commissioning and periodic testing.

---

Model Identification

The model-number configuration identifies the appliance as:

59AV — TrueAlert ES LED audible/visible appliance

W — Wall mount

R — Red

F — FIRE marking

H — High-candela version

Simplex catalog documentation explicitly describes 59AV-WRFH as:

TrueAlert ES LED Addressable Horn/Strobe Appliance, Wall-Mount, High-Candela, Red, “FIRE.”
