A mounting box, back box outdoor. Features a threaded conduit hole and knockout for outdoor applications.
The mounting options figures show the maximum number of field wires. That can enter the backbox used with each mounting option. If these limits a re exceeded. There may b e insufficient space in the backbox to accommodate the field wires. And stresses from the wires could damage the product.
The limits shown for each mounting option comply with the National Electrical Code. Siemens recommends the use of the largest backbox option. And the use of approved field wires whe never possible. To provide additional wiring room for easy installation and minimum stress on the product from wiring.
The installed product will have sufficient clearance and wiring room b efore installing backboxes. And conduit, especiall y if sheathed multiconductor cable or 3/4” conduit fittings a re used.
Mounting hardware for each mounting option i s supplied.
Conduit entrances to the backbox should b e selected. To provide sufficient wiring clearance for the installed product. Wh en extension rings ar e required, the conduit should enter through the backbox. Not the extension ring.
Wh en terminating field wires. Do not use more lead length th an required. Excess lead length could result in insufficient wiring space for the appliance.
Use care and proper techniques to position the field wires in the backbox. They use minimum space and produce minimum stress on the product. This i s especiall y important for stiff, heavy gauge wires and wires with thick insulation or sheathing.
Do not pass additional wires, used for other th an the appliance. Through the backbox “un less the backbox i s of a sufficient size. Additional wires could result in insufficient wiring space for the appliance.
