Gentex 224PRT. Smoke Detector Alarm.

Gentex 224PRT Photoelectric Smoke Detector Alarm, 52 mA

The Gentex 224PRT Photoelectric Smoke Detector Alarm, 52 mA offers dependable smoke detection using advanced photoelectric sensing technology. Designed for use in residential and light commercial environments, this unit provides an early warning in the event of a fire by detecting slow, smoldering smoke particles before they become visible flames.

With low power consumption and reliable performance, it is a popular choice for safety-conscious building owners and contractors.

Photoelectric Sensing for Faster Smoke Detection

Unlike ionization detectors that react primarily to flames, the Gentex 224PRT focuses on detecting smoke particles associated with early-stage fires. This photoelectric detection method increases response time to smoldering fires, such as those caused by overheated wiring, upholstered furniture, or bedding materials.

Because it reacts quickly to these conditions, the device can help occupants evacuate before flames fully develop, improving safety outcomes.

Integrated Sounder for Audible Alerts

The 224PRT includes a built-in 85 dB piezoelectric horn that sounds when smoke is detected. The loud alarm ensures occupants are alerted promptly, even in areas with moderate ambient noise. This combination of smoke detection and audible notification allows the device to serve as a standalone solution or as part of a broader alarm system.

Furthermore, the device offers a latching LED indicator to easily identify the source of an alarm, helping simplify post-incident checks.

Low Power Draw and Easy Installation

Operating at just 52 mA, the Gentex 224PRT is energy-efficient and compatible with low-current circuits. Its low profile and universal mounting base allow fast installation in both new construction and retrofit applications. Wiring terminals are easy to access, which saves time during setup.

Because it follows common industry wiring standards, integration into existing systems is straightforward.

The Gentex 224PRT Photoelectric Smoke Detector Alarm, 52 mA combines fast smoke detection, loud audible notification, and energy-efficient operation in a single compact unit. Its use of photoelectric technology makes it especially effective in identifying smoldering fires. With its built-in sounder and simple installation process, it is a practical solution for enhancing fire safety in homes, apartments, and small commercial buildings.
