This product, the Edwards GCFR-VM, is a visible fire alarm that was designed for indoor ceilings and walls. The strobe includes a field configurable switch for selecting the desired candela output.
The candela setting is lock and will be visible after final installation. In addition, Edwards GCFR-VM strobe features an enhanced synchronization circuit to comply with the latest requirements of UL 1971 Signaling Devices for the Hearing Impaired and the latest Canadian standard CAN/ULC S526-02. Also, the synchronized operation requires a separate installation from the control module. Furthermore, this appliance offers emergency signaling with clear or amber lenses and with optional ALERT housing labels. They are ideal for applications that require differentiation between life safety as well as mass notification alerts.
In fact, to reduce the risk of shock, you must disconnect all power and allow 10 minutes for stored energy to dissipate before handling. Also, the electrical supervision for this requires that the wire run has to be broken on both sides of the unit. Do not loop the signaling circuit field wires around the terminals. This unit is not serviceable or repairable if the unit fails to operate, contact the supplier for replacement. Besides, you will have to perform a visual inspection and an operational test twice a year or as directed by the local authority having jurisdiction.
