In the first place, Edwards Est 6250B Detector operated on the ionization principle. It senses the change in conductivity of ionized air caused by the presence of visible or invisible products of combustion and responds quickly to both fast-burning fires and slow smoldering fires. When activated the detector’s lamp illuminates. When the detector is clear of combustion products, pressing the “RESET” button on the control panel will reset the detector and system control panel.
In fact, in 2-wire applications, only one smoke detector on an initiating circuit can be activated. When contracts on relay bases are used to control more than one function (e.g., elevator capture, fan shutdown) only one (1) smoke detector per initiating circuit is permitted and all other initiating devices such as heat detectors, manual stations, water flow switches, etc., must be connected to separate circuit.
